Palm oil mill chains run long, slow, heavily loaded conveyor and elevator lines carrying fresh fruit bunches, empty bunches, fibre and nut. Pitch is long, rollers are large and sidebars are deep, so the chain can carry slats, buckets or flights between strands and still ride over the sprocket smoothly.

Most mills already run a specific chain number on each line. The practical question is rarely “which chain should I design in” but “which chain matches what is already on the conveyor”. The table below lists every straight plate model in our catalogue so you can match by chain number or by measured dimensions.

P is pitch, b1 the minimum width between inner plates, D the roller diameter, d the pin diameter, h the plate height and t/T the inner/outer plate thickness. Where a model is offered with different roller styles, weight is given for each variant.

Matching an Existing Chain

If the chain number has worn off, these measurements are enough to identify it:

• Pitch, measured over several links and divided by the number of pitches.
• Roller outside diameter.
• Width between inner plates.
• Pin diameter and overall pin length.
• Plate height and thickness.
• Attachment type, hole size and spacing, with a photograph.

Information to Include with an Enquiry

• Chain number, or the measurements above.
• Conveyor or elevator the chain runs on, and the material carried.
• Attachment type and spacing.
• Total length or number of links per strand, and number of strands.
• Sprocket tooth count if sprockets are also being replaced.
